SOMETHING FISHY CAUGHT ANDY WHITT'S ATTENTION AS HE MOTORED back to Joe Wheeler State Park with his clients.

"Bass were busting all over the area of about an acre," the Wheeler Lake guide recalls of that recent fall afternoon. "We had constant fish catching action for three hours. Shad were climbing on top of each other trying to get out of the water, and smallmouths, hybrids and rockfish (striped bass) were chasing'em."

    "Boy, we could have made a TV show, and we wouldn't have had to cut the film.  There's no telling how many times the three of us had on fish at the same time."

  • State Fishing License Required ( by phone 1-888-848-6887 or pick up at local merchants )
  • No other equipment necessary, you may use your
    own rods, reels and baits.
  • Be sure to wear proper clothing and bring
    along rain gear
  • You will be picked up at the dock by boat at time
    agreed upon and returned
  • Only two people will be allowed in boat with guide
